|A TALE OF TWO FASHION RETAILERS
Two fashion retailers proved this week that, if you get the product right, customers will generally keep on buying, through good times and bad. Spanish fashion retailer, Inditex, owner of the Zara brand, zipped up a healthy 12% increase in sales for the first quarter of 2016. The UK’s, Ted Baker, meanwhile, increased sales by 12.7% for the 19 weeks ending June 11 versus the same period last year, boosted by international expansion and an uplift in online sales. Ted Baker shares rose by 14.9% to £26.75, while Inditex put on 2.3% to €29.6.
